These particular Definitions should not be used with bridged main amps. They use the original amp, which works perfectly well for the vast majority of amps. If you don’t know if your main amp is bridged, it very likely is not. Still, if you have questions please inquire with the amp builder, or ask us. This pair are priced about $1500 below what they would normal bring because of the sub amp being the original Definition Mk. IV design and build.

These are the original Definition Mk.IV amps which only have the ZuB3 input. We include a set of 5-way binding post adaptors so you can use whatever cable you like. The majority of the Definition Mk. IV loudspeakers sold featured both ZuB3 and 5-way binding posts. The amps that features both also used Lundahl interstage transformers so bridged amps could be used without any concern. These particular Definitions should not be used with bridged main amps as the “negative” (black colored) speaker lead is referenced to ground.
Definition Mk. IV (2010 - 2020, the only change being the above mentioned built-in subwoofer amplifier) is real high-fidelity, a sincere expression of our musical values—of what we create and build at Zu. You can see the strategic use of the mixed materials pallet, judicious use of silver in the cabling and high-pass network, and the uncompromising and intense focus given to all the drive units and the way in which they work together as a whole and interface with the cabinet—and how the whole loudspeaker system works within the room.
