What Are The Sound Improvements?

• New pair of Zu103ND-16 high output full range drivers improve resolution.

• New tweeter keeps up with the high-output Zu FRD and is sweeter and more resolving the old tweeter.

• Improved tweeter to full-range driver matchup for an even more holistic sound quality.

• Design of the system realizes a simple, single element high-pass filter for the tweeter (Jupiter Copper Foil & Wax).

• Treble extends out to 33k Hz which give improved sense of soundstage and image placement within the stereo field.

• Improved linearity in the magnitude response curves.

• Improved off-axis performance due to the tweeter’s horn design.

• Improved pair matching for improved stereo.

3 hours of labor. This is a pretty easy swap out, just replace everything.

• Clean tabletop and blanket or pad, so you can operate on your speakers as they lay speaker drivers up

• #1 square drive screwdriver

• 1/8” hex screwdriver

• Torx T20 screwdriver

• #2 Philips screwdriver
  

Torques

FRD - First pass around, gently torque the screws.
FRD - Second pass around, torque firmly; using standard screwdriver and one hand, about 10 inch pounds, [1Nm].
FRD - Third pass around, torque a bit more; using standard screwdriver and one hand, about 20 inch pounds [2 Nm].

Tweeter Lens - #1 square drive screws, about 10 inch pounds [1nM]

Nameplate with included screws - about 10 inch pounds [1nM]

That list of amps includes most vintage amps, and any modern amp that is, or can be optimized for a 16 ohm loudspeaker—single-ended triode (SET) vacuum tube amps, output-transformerless (OTL) vacuum tube amps, some solid-state like some of the First Watt models, and even many of the mid-fi Japanese receivers. Yes, there are advantages for a high impedance loudspeaker. Our design target from the outset was focused on extracting every last bit of tone and texture of such amps while getting even better power and definition out of the system.
