The design and build of this cable is super precise, in both the electromagnetic function and materials. For example the dielectric (space between signal conductor and shield) is a unique space of Teflon, carbon and air, realizing a permittivity that is less than Teflon alone, all the while keeping the cable physically tough and flexible. Balancing materials in the dielectric, along with conductor and ground-shield ratios yields a balanced cable with very high propagation velocity and super low standing wave ratio (SWR). The electrodynamics of the Zu Event AES3 Mk.II are in part served by the use of pure single-crystal silver signal-pair conductors insulated and characteristic impedance tolerance set using PTFE-VC Teflon. The use of pure silver helps keep the noise floor of the transmission line as low as possible (at room temperatures) and helps in achieving the cable’s super-wide bandwidth, glare-free with full tone. Event AES3 is a very relaxed and harmonically dense and life-like sounding. We think this is only achieved when engineering emphasis is placed on the E&M architecture—materials simply serving the electrodynamics and target sound. Teflon as primary insulator and impedance gauge ensures the lowest possible dielectric constant, and helps in achieving very high propagation velocity and allows for super high tolerances in characteristic impedance.
While Event AES3 Mk. II is manufactured to be as perfect as possible to mirror-balanced, we also encase the transmission line within a highly RF/EMI screened environment. This is done through the use of high conductance silver plated copper shielding and an ESD carbon filament complex. The ESD dissipation is done as a rather large gradient in reference to the signal pairs, cable’s earth ground and the space in which it is used—another design feature that improves that super low noise and problem-free usage even in the noisiest of RF environments.
