Zu Expanding Production
Zu has long since run out of space for organized production. After a year of preparation and process engineering, Zu is finally making the planned expansion happen. In a nutshell, our current building will be dedicated to cabinet and driver production, and a second is being built out for final assembly, warehousing and the creation of dedicated prototyping and development workshop—welcome news to production that is tired of working around prototype projects.
The expansion is facilitating the following improvements:
- Increased capacity for drivers fabrication
- New purpose built lab room for matching and batching of drivers
- Increased burn-in capacity and improved handling
- Site-wide improved workflow, with space that looks like production instead of cow-trails
- Large, dedicated workshop for prototyping and development
- Dedicated equipment and tooling for prototyping production process development
- Cables and internal loudspeaker cable work stations will be independent and both expanded
- Electronics fabrication get its own dedicated assembly stations
- Warehousing—Zu will again have space to build to schedules instead of just trying to keep up
- New photography room and workflow for expanded Ready to Ship offerings
Getting the new systems and production lines fully built-out and running is not an overnight thing. While the expansion has begun, all will not be operational for a few more months. But know there will not be any disruption of services or fulfillment during this process as none of our current systems will be taken off line, the new production lines, lab partitions and workshop areas are all in addition to what we have going on.
