Chirs Bieler's Omen Experience

Hello. My name is Chris Bieler. I work at Panavision NY—film / digital camera / lens supplier.

I have a modest, vinyl centered, 2-channel stereo system, and there I recently had an extraordinary, life changing experience.

Rig and setup: Rogue Sphinx V2 integrated, Linn Sondek LP12 that was a gift, Dynavector cart, 20 x 20 foot music room—not into home theatre, not at all. Have owned Paradigms, original Klipsch K-Horns, Vandersteen speakers, and more. I heard Zu Soul Supremes through a friend—it was very brief but I was very impressed. Did a lot or reading and decided to take up the great Dirty Weekend offer—had a good feeling about them.

The day came. I knew they were going to be great when while setting them up, I bumped one speaker slightly against something and the sound it made was some how like bumping a piano! No joke. I believe burn-in is 400 hours and Zu does a good chunk before the ship.

Well, wow. These are the most beautiful, musical speakers I have heard—right out of the box. I listen to all music, but mostly Jazz, Soul / Funk and Classical. The Zu speakers completely hit the mark with all the important things that in my opinion are important: Clarity (perfect, crystal clear). Soundstage / Imaging (amazing and perfect sizing—something that is so very important). Dynamic range (best I have heard. Incredible bass to soaring highs). Refinement (very natural, real music. Incredible with human voice). Human voice has superior depth, richness, detail, realism. (Yes, you can hear singer breathing). Don’t know much about the spec’s on them; have read about Zu’s driver and their philosophy and frankly don’t have a full understanding of it. But I really don’t care about that.

I’ve been listening to music for a long time, and at some point realized that the music (I’d rather use that term rather than sound) is all that matters. It’s simply breathtaking, balanced, beautiful, addictive. Had many late nights already—can’t stop listening to records. Also the workmanship—cabinet, paint work is outstanding. And the price… this is the best deal in audio. I sincerely want to thank Sean, Gerrit and everyone at Zu for their friendly and professional service and and deep knowledge and on their amazing music makers. If you call Zu, Sean the owner may pick up the phone himself and I have had many great conversations with Gerrit—it feels like being part of their family.

Thank you Zu. My life has been changed and my ears opened to these great, great loudspeakers.
