Harvey's AXPONA Show Report
This year at AXPONA was not the normal "Zu" show routine. Prior commitments during the same timeframe didn't even have AXPONA in our radar for attending, however after having David Macpherson from Studio Electric contact us for some cable needs and wanting to team up, I was able to attend my first AXPONA gathering.
Mind you this was not my first HiFi rodeo, but AXPONA was a bit different than RMAF and Capital Audio Fest. It was the first show in which we were only representing cables.
Both Dave (Studio Electric) and Dan (ModWright) were great to work with and I was able to experience a different side of the industry.
As someone who thought they were pretty well versed in different genres, during my brief stay in Chicago, Dave and company opened my eyes to a whole new world of music that the HiFi community has to offer.
Dan from ModWright Instruments happened to bring along my favorite John Grant LP, Pale Green Ghosts. I could have played that album through all day long but alas, there were a few other tracks to play.
I didn't have much time to explore the main floor, but I did have a chance to visit the Reckless Records booth. They had a great selection of music, in fact a Car Seat Headrest album caught my eye and was promptly purchased to give it a spin on the Fern & Roby turntable that was also on exhibit in the room.
Overall I had a great time exhibiting with Dave and Dan. The room had an intimate and friendly vibe, pretty dang stellar sound, and was definitely deserving of the Positive Feedback Audio Oasis award.
